A Student And A Teacher Raised Funds For The Survivors of Typhoon Yolanda

Malenne Kelly and her brother, Garett, raised $2000 for the survivors of super typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda. Malenne, a John Hopkins scholar, is a service-active student of Rosemont School of the Holy Child.

What inspired her to help? She said,

When Garett and I heard about Typhoon Haiyan and the destruction that it caused, we felt obligated to help those affected by the storm, for much of our family lives in the Philippines. Luckily, our family was not directly affected, but we still knew that many people had been badly affected by the storm, and we wanted to help them. One of the most rewarding parts of the fundraiser was getting to see how many people participated. Almost every student in our school participated in the fundraiser.

Before super typhoon Yolanda struck the country, a 7.2 earthquake shocked the provinces of Bohol destroying six Heritage churches. A year after, typhoon Seniang flooded Bohol.
